THE 19TH ANNUAL HOLIDAY PAGEANT will soon be on us ...
The Annual Holiday Pageant enquiry form was sent in your child’s folder today.  Please send us your responses within the same folder, no later than Monday, 31st October 2016.

The Holiday Pageant and Christmas Party is the culmination of our speech and drama programme and has always been an important part of our curriculum.  To find out more about this event please refer to the flyer we sent home or access this link:

DRESS-UP PARTY
Due to the ongoing festivities this weekend and the coming week, we have made a few tweaks to the planned event on Monday .  You and your children are welcome to attend dressed as imaginatively as you can be!




IN THE CLASSROOM THIS WEEK …

The Montessori Environment
Sensorial:
Geometric Cabinet
· Quadrilaterals: The children learnt that a quadrilateral is a four-sided polygon, like a square, rectangle, or rhombus
· Group Games with the Cards and Insets: A game where the child matches the inset to its corresponding card, from a distance.
Science: Parts of a spider and cockroach.  An introduction to the anatomy of insects
Group Topic:
· United Nations Day – Through a multi-media presentation, we shared with the children information about the United Nations Organization, how it began, its purpose, and its aim to help the world maintain peace.
· Sound and its propagation - Explained to the children how sound is propagated.
Craft: Halloween Craft

The Mandarin Area
1. Continued learning the Names of Insects.
2. Learnt the names of solids
3. Halloween and seasonal songs
4. Conversation: Happy Halloween.


DURING EXTENDED-DAY

Language
Noun and Verb Game: Nouns (a name of a person, place or an object) and the verb (an action word) are introduced.
Mathematics:
Stamp Game: Reinforcement of all operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) with the Stamp Game
Sensorial:
Baric Tablets: Through this material the children learnt about weights, expanding their vocabulary, i.e. light, lighter, lightest and heavy, heavier, heaviest. This is in preparation for understanding measurements of weight in mathematics
Songs - Halloween songs
Craft - The children made a spider for Halloween
Cookery - The children made a sweet called 'Coconut Barfi' for Diwali, which they helped to cut and pack to take home.

WEEK'S UP - FOR THE WEEKENDING 21 OCTOBER 2016




DIWALI CELEBRATION 2016
Thank you for your patronage at our Hello Diwali 2016 Celebration.  We hope you enjoyed the children's enactment of the Ramayana and all related performances.  The kind comments that we received about the event, are appreciated particularly, the compliments paid towards the freshly made food.  

Putting the event together required a multi-tasked force of volunteers.  Cookery, decor, stage sets, sound & lights, choreography, and logistics.  We are most grateful to our dedicated parents and the MFC teachers for coming together to create what you experienced. 
On that note we wish to convey our gratitude to the following volunteers are (in no particular order): 
Sneha Parekh, Pooja Arora, Deepika Dutt, (Mr) R.C. HALLOWEEN   Party - 31st October 2016

Dress up !  All princesses, princes, pirates, mermaids of all ages, are welcome! It will be a half-day school session (8:15a.m. to 11:15a.m.).  All children are kindly requested to come in the morning. The School bus operator will make the required alternate arrangements for pick-up and drop-off, however, you are advised to contact them to confirm these times for your child.  We invite volunteers to contact us.  Help is needed with games, food, and beverages.  We await your call! Thank you!

IDENTIFICATION TAGS! 

We have issued the above to all persons named and authorized to collect our students.  Please extend your co-operation to ensure the safety and security of your children by wearing the tags when you enter our premises at dismissals.  Thank you, and please contact us if you have any questions in this regard.

Exercises of Practical Life: Cross-stitch - developing hand-eye coordination.  (Most of all the children, enjoyed the learning experience because they created their own patterns.)
